Hamburger Mary’s

Hamburger Mary’s was one of the first meals I had when J. and I moved into our new house. In the midst of painting, cleaning, and unpacking, burgers from “the joint down the road” were just what we needed. Even as a takeout burger with fries, it was good enough to have us coming back. Little did we know it would have us coming back almost weekly.

Hamburger Mary’s Clearwater has different events on every night of the week. Our favorite is their Trivia Tuesday, that coincides with their BOGO burger night. What could be better?! The layout of the restaurant is open and it can get very loud, but that is part of the fun. Tuesday’s trivia host, Gabe, is energetic, hilarious, and talented at coming up with the different trivia questions and themes every week.

My go-to burger is their Meaty Mushroom. Melted cheddar and jack cheeses with  freshly sautéed mushrooms and Mary’s sauce (thousand island), with lettuce, tomato and pickles. I love the tenderness of the mushrooms along with the crisp exterior of the burger. It’s always seasoned really well. They’ll ask you how you’d like your burger cooked, but do tend to overcook it a bit, so I’d recommend ordering it one temperature lower than normal. Since I like my burger medium, I order it medium rare. They have a variety of side dishes, but my favorite is their mac and cheese. It is so ooey gooey, rich, and delicious. (They also have a “Mac Daddy” burger served with their mac and cheese right on top…HEAVEN!)

For dessert, one of my favorite treats to get are their DIY S’mores. These things are the real deal – served with skewers, a small flame, and all of the fixings. It is so much fun to roast a marshmallow indoors before making that classic childhood favorite.

We always have a great time when we come to Hamburger Mary’s. The atmosphere is fun and the food is delicious and comforting. I hope this place will become a fast favorite for you as it did for me!

Until next time!
