Last Saturday, Crooked Thumb Brewery, in Safety Harbor hosted a Girl Scout cookie inspired beer release event. When J. and I heard the news, we couldn’t NOT go. I mean, two of my favorite things mixed together, what could be better?
Crooked Thumb has a laid back, casual atmosphere, a perfect fit for the small town of Safety Harbor. Their tasting room is a large warehouse style building with wood banisters, barrels, and open vaulted ceiling. All the tables are large and family style, meant for you come with all of your friends or share and make new ones! You can view the beer production area with all the large vats through large windows behind the bar. (Side note: Ask for a tour – and keep your eye out for the brewery cats!) They also have an outdoor patio area and yard with room for food vendors, live music, and yard games.
Saturday’s event featured these four inspired beers:
- Chocolate coconut lager
- Chocolate peanut butter porter
- S’mores stout
- Chocolate mint stout
Between J. and I, we tried them all. And all were delicious. They really did a great job of taking the flavors of each Girl Scout cookie and melding them with the beer so that you definitely got the hints of flavor without them being too sweet or overwhelming.
They have a wide range of other delicious beers as well from Grapefruit gose to Chai porter. They are always hosting lots of different events including trivia, Pints and Poses (yoga), and live music performances. The next time you’re in the area make sure to stop by! And follow them on Facebook to keep up to date on all of their upcoming events!
